It's been a whole year since we reopened the doors to Maesteg Town Hall!
The redevelopment of this iconic community venue saw the move of Maesteg Library into the ground-floor, which has been a huge success.
In just 365 days, we have:
Welcomed almost 200,000 people through our doors.
Hosted 245 ticketed events in the main hall and Y Bocs Oren, including full audiences for a comedy night with Ignacio Lopez; Lindisfarne; Curtain Up’s Wizard of Oz; Maesteg Musical Theatre Society’s Rock of Ages; Fabbamania; Bridgend Youth Theatre’s Jesus Christ Superstar; and four cinema screenings of Mr Burton.
Sold over 17,700 tickets.
Held over 550 events for adults and children within the library.
Used our spaces for free open events and exhibitions, working in partnership with the Royal College of Music and Drama and other organisations.
Been supported by volunteers working over 1,400 hours.
Sold almost 29,000 hot drinks.
Signed up over 1,200 new library members.
Issued nearly 39,000 library books.
Helped over 2,533 people use the public computers.
Provided free space for Employability Bridgend, South Wales Police PCSOs and other local organisations to meet.
Launched the annual Llynfi Valley Film Festival, to raise the profile of Welsh languages films.
Held the first Access All Areas: Arts Network Conference for arts practitioners in Wales.
Supported other regional cultural organisations, including Theatr Iolo, Sherman Theatre, Swansea City Opera and Cardiff Animation Festival with their touring productions.
Provided high quality, accessible space to host the Mayor’s Ball, VE Day Gala, Employability jobs fair and Bridgend Music Service concert.
