Families are invited to pack a picnic, pull up a blanket and enjoy a summer of outdoor theatre at Bryngarw Country Park, with three magical performances taking place in the beautiful parkland setting this July and August.

From heart-warming classic stories to laugh-out-loud mystery and musical family fun, the 2026 outdoor theatre programme offers something for all ages, with tickets available from Awen Box Office.

Outdoor theatre at Bryngarw Country Park is about more than entertainment. It brings high-quality cultural experiences into an informal, welcoming and natural setting, helping people enjoy live performance in a way that feels relaxed, accessible and family-friendly.

By taking theatre out of traditional venues and into the park, Awen Cultural Trust can reach wider audiences, create shared experiences for families and communities, and encourage people to connect with both culture and nature.

The Railway Children

Tuesday 28 July, 6pm

A scandalous secret. An endless golden summer. A beast they call the Green Dragon.

Bobbie, Peter and Phyllis have been swept off to the English countryside by their mother, who is suddenly much too busy to play their games. Left to explore their new home, it is not long before they feel the pull of the railway at the bottom of their garden. As they follow the tracks to the local station, a whole world opens up to them, full of charming characters, romance, peril and questions that need answering.

Sherlock Holmes & The Hound of the Baskervilles

Wednesday 29 July, 7pm

How can one show possibly contain so much action and adventure? Elementary, my dear! The critically acclaimed Pantaloons Theatre Company presents a brand-new riff on the fiendishly famous case. Will detective duo Holmes and Watson discover the deadly secret of the Baskerville family curse before it strikes again? Featuring live music, audience interaction and more mystery than you can shake a magnifying glass at.

Jungle Book

Wednesday 5 August, 6pm

Filled with original music, audience interaction and a host of larger-than-life characters, audiences are invited to join Mowgli and his friends, Baloo the bear and Bagheera the panther, on a madcap jungle adventure as they meet and attempt to outwit a slithering snake, some cheeky monkeys and the fierce tiger, Shere Khan. Funny, exciting and wildly entertaining, this musical will have you howling with laughter - the perfect treat for the whole family.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their own blankets, low-backed chairs and picnics, and to dress for the weather so they can enjoy the performances comfortably in the park’s outdoor setting.
