Bryngarw Benefits From Sakura Cherry Tree Project

Bryngarw Benefits From Sakura Cherry Tree Project

Over 8,000 Sakura cherry trees, marking 150 years of Japan-UK friendship, have been planted in over 990 locations across the UK since 2019.

We gave Keith Dunn OBE, Honorary Consul of Japan, a very warm ようこそ – youkoso (welcome) during his visit to Bryngarw Country Park last week.

Mr Dunn presented Bryngarw Country Park Manager Adam Davies with six Sakura cherry trees as a gift from the people of Japan.

They were planted in Bryngarw’s Japanese Garden by members of Bridgend Rotary Club.

We hope the trees will attract visitors for hanami (traditional flower viewing) blossom celebrations and picnics within the country park.
