Ruth and Steve: From Porthcawl with Love

Ruth and Steve: From Porthcawl with Love

Featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the Grand Pavilion’s multi-million pound redevelopment.

During the documentary, Ruth Jones returned to her hometown of Porthcawl to revisit childhood memories with fellow Welsh actor and friend Steve Speirs. The pair visited some of Porthcawl’s popular locations including Coney Beach, Rest Bay, Trecco Bay Holiday Park and the Grand Pavilion, which we are currently redeveloping in partnership with Bridgend County Borough Council.

Ruth revealed that she gained her Equity card from performing at the Grand Pavilion as part of Stan Stennett’s popular Billy & Bonzo pantomimes. She also spoke to actor Rob Bryden, who performed with Ruth at the Grand Pavilion during their time at Porthcawl Comprehensive School. Reflecting on the place where her career began, Ruth called it “really emotional”.
