Financial Support Received for Library Initiative

How funding from the Books Council of Wales helped promote recommended reading resources for parents and carers.

The Reading Agency’s Reading Well for Families booklist has been promoted to a wider audience of non-library users, thanks to a grant from the Books Council of Wales.

The Reading Well for Families resources include new pregnancy, birth and baby care books to help parents and carers feel informed during the first 1001 days, from conception to age two.

All books and digital resources have been recommended by health professionals and tried and tested by parents and carers. Some of the recommended books provide information and advice; there are also personal stories, illustrated books and poetry.

A targeted social media campaign run from September 2025 to February 2026, to raise awareness of the resources available to borrow, free of charge, from Awen Libraries. The content was seen over 275,000 times by almost 100,000 new and expectant parents.
