We are proud to be collaborating with Hijinx Theatre Company as co-commissioner of two new performances: Coblyn, a family-friendly celebration of Welsh folklore featuring magical gnomes, and 'CRABULOUS!', which will premiere at our annual Seascape festival in Porthcawl on Saturday 30th May.
Awen is committed to ensuring the arts are accessible to everyone, with diverse representation both on and off the stage. We work with exceptional organisations such as Hijinx, who support adults with learning disabilities to develop professional performance careers. This complements Awen’s own commitment to working with adults with learning disabilities through our B-Leaf and Wood-B projects.
Outdoor arts performances play a vital role in bringing creativity directly into communities, often reaching people who might not otherwise experience the arts. Through humour, imagination and bespoke audience interaction, they help build pride in local places, bring communities together, inspire creativity and lift hearts and minds, breaking down barriers to arts participation.
Our ongoing work with Abertillery's programme of street events, alongside our largest annual outdoor event, Seascape, celebrates Welsh artists and provides a platform for them to share their talents within the communities we serve. Together, these events help build audiences, strengthen relationships and support a vibrant cultural life across our locations.
