Celebrating Heritage at Maesteg Town Hall

Celebrating Heritage at Maesteg Town Hall

Have you spotted our new glass manifestations, which were printed and installed by Bridgend College?

Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, in partnership with Bridgend County Borough Council, the lower ground floor rooms at Maesteg Town Hall now feature heritage-themed glass manifestations.

  • The library office depicts Ann Thomas, the 'Maid of Cefn Ydfa', a romantic novel based on real people from the Llangynwyd area.

  • Menter Bro Ogwr’s office shows a 'Burning Llan Castle', a well-known local symbol, said to be based around the story of Owain Glyndŵr burning the castle in the early 1400s.

  • The meeting room’s doors and windows include a selection of plans from the Town Hall’s redevelopment in 1914, featuring the altered stage and new backstage areas.

  • The Heritage research room and Local History Library display sections of historic maps of South Wales.

Thanks to Bridgend College for their excellent print and installation services.
