Bryngarw Country Park welcomed almost 50,000 people during July and August 2026, as families and other visitors made the most of the Bridgend beauty spot over the school summer holidays.
Almost 24,000 visits were recorded in July, followed by nearly 26,000 visits in August, marking one of the busiest seasons for the award-winning green space since the Covid pandemic.
Managed by Awen Cultural Trust in partnership with, and on behalf of, Bridgend County Borough Council, over £1 million has been invested in Bryngarw’s visitor experience and infrastructure in recent years.
Bryngarw’s brand-new children’s play area, recently redeveloped thanks to funding and support from the Council, was enjoyed by thousands of young visitors during their summer break.

“It was fantastic to welcome so many people to Bryngarw Country Park over the summer holidays, demonstrating how much the park is valued by local communities and visitors from further afield.
“Whether people came to enjoy a family day out, meet friends, explore the park, participate in one of our ranger-led or outdoor cultural activities, or simply spend some time outdoors, we hope everyone enjoyed their visit.
“We would like to thank our hardworking ranger team, café colleagues and volunteers for helping to keep Bryngarw a safe and accessible space for all, particularly during the extremely hot weather we experienced this summer.
“The large number of family visits over the summer show that Bryngarw continues to provide a welcoming and inclusive place where children can play, explore and connect with nature. These visits support active, healthy lifestyles, give people opportunities to spend quality time together and create lasting memories.
“Bryngarw Park is an excellent example of how our partnership with Bridgend County Borough Council is generating investment and supporting the wellbeing and visitor economy.”

“We’ve invested more than £1 million in Bryngarw in recent years, and these visitor figures show that investment is paying off. This is a park for everyone, and it’s fantastic to see it being enjoyed by so many people.
