Working in partnership with Bridgend College, Awen is growing its lifelong learning offer in Maesteg, with more than 260 learners attending courses at the Town Hall since the programme launched in 2024.
During the 2024/25 academic year, 167 learners attended courses, reflecting strong demand for accessible, community-based education. This momentum has carried into the current year, with a further 102 learners already participating in 2025/26 so far.
Bridgend College offers a wide range of opportunities designed to support skills development, boost confidence and create meaningful social connections. Courses are delivered in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Their programme of adult education courses includes subjects to suit a variety of interests and needs, from essential skills in literacy, numeracy and digital technology through to creative and life skills such as art, languages and British Sign Language.
By embedding learning opportunities within a cultural venue, Awen is helping to remove barriers to participation while strengthening Maesteg Town Hall’s role as a vibrant space for the whole community.
This also aligns with Awen’s strategic vision, to ensure people can access skills, support and help when they need it, and develop a sense of purpose and engagement, as a facilitator of informal and community-based education.
